Fatal helicopter crash, NSW

Two people have died following a helicopter crash in the states south overnight.

About 11.55pm yesterday (Monday 4 April 2022), emergency services located the wreckage of a helicopter about 200m east of the Snowy Mountains Highway, Kiandra Flats, following a request from the AMSA Joint Rescue Coordinator Centre after the aircraft was last tracked in the area.

The occupants died at the scene. Their identities are yet to be confirmed.

Officers from Riverina Police District have established a crime scene which will be examined by specialist police.

An investigation into the circumstances of the crash will be undertaken.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau has been notified.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
