Fatal stabbing in Blackett

An investigation is underway following the fatal stabbing of a man in Sydney’s west this morning.

Shortly before 6am (Saturday 15 January 2022), emergency services were called to Popondetta Road, Blackett, following a concern for welfare report.

Upon arrival, officers found a man in the middle of Popondetta Road, suffering a laceration to his neck.

The man was treated at the scene by police before the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics. He was then taken to Westmead Hospital, where he died a short time later.

He is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged in his 40s.

Officers attached to Mount Druitt Police Area Command established a crime scene, which will be examined by specialist forensic police, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway.
