Police can confirm a person has died after an incident involving a train at Te Awamutu railway station.
Emergency services were notified about 6.20pm on Sunday.
“Sadly, one person died at the scene,” Senior Sergeant John McCarthy says.
“This is a tragic incident, and we are providing support to whānau and those who acted immediately to try to help.”
Senior Sergeant McCarthy urged anyone who witnessed what happened to make contact if they hadn’t already spoken with Police.
