Financial Crimes Squad detectives have charged a man following an investigation into over $2.76 million worth of property and mortgage fraud in NSW.
Earlier this year, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Financial Crimes Squad established Strike Force Colloden to investigate reports of property and mortgage fraud across the state.
Following extensive inquiries, officers served a 74-year-old Queensland man with a Court Attendance Notice for dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception and 19 counts of use false document to obtain property, on Tuesday 21 July 2020.
Police will allege in court that the man created fraudulent mortgage documents to deceive a liquidator to retain ownership of a property valued at $2.2 million.
The man also allegedly produced forged mortgages and legal documents to defraud a government agency of $200,000.
It will be further alleged he was involved in fraudulent offences to the value of $360,000.
The man is due to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Wednesday 21 October 2020).
Investigations under Strike Force Colloden are continuing.
