Flotilla survivors speak at Pro Palestine event Hyde Park North Sydney at 1pm on Sunday June 7 2026

Global Sumud Flotilla Australian Delegation

This Sunday, 7 June 2026, pro-Palestine movements in Sydney are holding a rally at Hyde Park North at 1pm.

The gathering will hear Anny Mokotow and Juliet Lamont from the Global Sumud Flotilla speak about the goals of the Flotilla. They will also address the implications of their treatment when intercepted by Israel and some next steps for the movement.

Flotilla participants see their interception in international waters and mistreatment in prison ships and on land by Israel as unwarranted. These events are overshadowed by the entitlement, cruelty, disregard for international law and overreach that have characterised Israeli abuse of Palestinian civilians and Israeli attacks on bordering nations across decades.

Key objectives of the Australian delegation are:

1. Government Ministers meet with Flotilla Survivors of Israeli violence and sexual assault

2. Expel the Israeli Ambassador for misleading or wilfully lying to Australians

3. Immediately stop all military trade and cooperation with Israel

4. Australia to investigate abuses by Israeli government agencies independently.

5. End military participation by dual citizens.

Flotilla survivors have provided accounts to lawyers, undergone medical examinations and continue to pursue justice and accountability. Evidence from the Australian delegation has been submitted to the International Criminal Court or ICC.

Despite repeated requests, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has not opted to meet with the survivors or publicly condemn Israel’s treatment of Australian humanitarian volunteers sailing with the Global Sumud Flotilla and Freedom Flotilla Coalition. Nor has the treatment of Palestinian civilians been consistently condemned.

Foreign Minister Senator Penny Wong has yet to make good on her promise to meet flotilla participants having been cornered by Senators Shoebridge, Pocock and Faruqi in Senate Estimates last Thursday.
