Eight teenagers have now been charged after a school in western Sydney was allegedly vandalised following a break and enter last week.
Just before 11pm on Wednesday 23 September 2020, officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command were called to a school on Hamilton Road, Fairfield West, after reports security alarms had been activated.
The school was found to be ransacked, with classrooms damaged, walls spray-painted, and property smashed.
The extent of the damage is estimated to be between $30,000 – $40,000.
Officers from Fairfield’s Proactive Crime Team commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident and so far during the investigation, five 17-year-old males and an 18-year-old man have been charged with property related offences.
They all remain before the courts.
Following further inquiries, investigators arrested an 18-year-old man and 17-year-old boy at homes in Fairfield West and Wakeley, about 2.30pm today (Tuesday 29 September 2020).
They were taken to Fairfield Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence, destroy or damage property, intentionally mark premises without consent – aggravated and larceny.
The pair were granted conditional bail, with the older man to appear before Fairfield Local Court on Wednesday 21 October 2020 and the younger male to appear before a children’s court on Monday 19 October 2020.
