Applications for the Game On: Teaming Up for Climate Action program are now open. Community sporting clubs will be able to reinvest savings on energy costs into what matters most.
The program will support up to 500 clubs to reduce energy costs and prepare for a changing climate.
Grants of up to $100,000 are available for eligible energy upgrades. Examples include:
- solar and battery systems
- LED lighting
- heating and cooling improvements
- insulation and shading
- water‑saving and drainage solutions.
Clubs can apply individually or partner with others on multi‑site projects.
By investing in energy upgrades, clubs can spend less on power and more on sport – supporting better facilities, stronger participation and thriving local communities.
This program was announced to support the Net Zero Plan and will work alongside other government programs. These include the Cheaper Home Batteries program and finance from the Clean Energy Finance Corporation.
To help clubs maximise the impact of Game On funding, we have appointed Sport Forever, a dedicated support service led by Cricket for Climate.
Through Sport Forever, grant applicants and recipients will be able to access:
- expert support to build and manage partnerships
- opportunities to share project stories and successes
- support to measure project outcomes
- guidance to help maximise project benefits.
Applications close 28 July 2026, or earlier if funds are exhausted.
