Get festive with Carols at Castle

Festivities, food trucks and fun are on the Christmas list for Brimbank’s 2019 Carols at the Castle on Sunday 15 December.

Brimbank Mayor Cr Georgina Papafotiou said tickets were now on sale for the popular Christmas celebration held each year at Overnewton Castle in Keilor.

‘This wonderful family event has long been a tradition for local families and a fantastic way to get into the spirit of Christmas.

‘Carols at the Castle is also an important fundraiser – with all money from ticket sales going to the Brimbank Community Fund, which supports Brimbank’s most vulnerable residents through grassroots solutions.

‘Brimbank Council is proud to support this fund which, in the past four years, has distributed around $48,000 to 11 local charities assisting young people with their education, employment and wellbeing,’ Cr Papafotiou said.

This year Carols at the Castle features an array of talented stars from Brimbank, Melbourne’s west and beyond, directed by Musical Director Lachie Robertson.

Albion’s own stage star, Aurora Kurth, will MC the event – using her sublime vocals and cheeky comic style to keep audiences entertained in between numbers.

Melbourne singers Anthony Monea, Lissa Dawson and Ricky Muscat will have audiences singing along to Christmas favourites.

Accomplished musicians Louise Goh, Craig Strain, Lucky Pereira, Cheryl Durongpitsikul and children’s performers Carp Productions round out an evening of Christmas fun – along with plenty of elves, fairies and (rumour has it) Mr and Mrs Claus.

‘Carols at the Castle has always been a popular event – this year we’ve responded to audience requests to make it better than ever.

‘We’ll have a range of food offerings on site so there will be plenty to feed the family.

‘We’re also adding even more sing-along numbers, including lots of Christmas classics that everyone will know, and producing a program of song lyrics that audiences can print out and bring along – so everyone can get into the Christmas spirit,’ Cr Papafotiou said.
