Get in quick for 2019 Community Development Fund Grants

Knox Council is currently accepting applications for the annual Community Development Fund Grants program for one-off projects that benefit the community.

Applications close on 1st July, so any local not-for-profit groups who are interested in accessing these grants need to get their submission lodged as soon as possible.

The Community Development Fund Grants program funds projects such as:

  • Cultural and artistic events
  • Recreational or social activities that help keep people connected in the community
  • Equipment purchases for community groups, and
  • Activities that encourage life-long learning.

Groups can apply for grants of between $3,000 and $20,000 for new projects, or up to $5,000 for established annual community events.

At the May 27 Council Meeting, $11,762 was also approved for nine local projects as part of the Minor Grants Program.

The Minor Grants Program provides small, incidental funding to not-for-profit organisations that provide services, projects and programs that directly benefit local residents. These grants may be up to $1500 and are considered monthly at an Ordinary Meeting of Council.

The successful projects in the last round included a music program, purchase of a defibrillator, software updates for electronic scoreboards and help to provide weekly community meals in Ferntree Gully.

As stated by Mayor, Cr Jake Keogh:

  • The community grants program is an important way that Council can financially support local not-for-profit organisations that provide valuable services, events and support to our community.
  • There is a range of grant programs available and I encourage groups to check the grants page on Council’s website to see if there’s a way council can assist your project.
