Getting back in swim at Aquazone

It’s time to get back in the swim at AquaZone.

The three indoor pools at AquaZone have reopened after several weeks during which time the aquatic centre’s ageing climate control and water treatment systems were replaced.

The new systems have created a better atmosphere within the pool hall while the new water treatment system uses liquid chlorine and UV lamps instead of chlorine gas to sanitise the pools and is a safer system for AquaZone staff to operate.

“This is a great outcome for regular pool users and for those having swimming lessons,” Warrnambool Mayor Cr Tony Herbert said.

“Council would like to thank all of our loyal customers for their patience during this major upgrade.”

The deck surrounding the pools has a new anti-slip treatment that not only improves safety but has brightened the indoor space.

The climate control system features more energy-efficient boilers linked a computerised system that allows the boilers to switch on and off automatically to maintain the hall temperature.

A new fabric ducting system helps better control humidity. This system is also easier to maintain as sections can be unzipped and removed for repairs or replacement.

As AquaZone’s boilers came back online the smaller pools – used for junior swimming classes – wereheated as a first priority with the 25m pool brought up to its regular temperature this week.
