Gladstone Public gets head start on Schools Tree Day

Kempsey Shire Council

Students from Gladstone Public School started their day a bit differently on Thursday when they planted native Bottlebrush trees as part of their tour of the local sewage treatment works.

One of Council’s water and sewer experts, Peter, explained to the students what happens after we flush the toilet or have a shower. Students had time to quiz Peter on some other important questions too like, what happens if I flush my pet fish down the toilet (accidently of course!)?

The Bottlebrush were planted along the fence line of the sewage treatment plant with local Landcare member Chris Halliday as part of Schools Tree Day. Chris gave out some of his tips about planting trees and their importance for the environment, passing on his wisdom to our next generation of green thumbs.
