Melbourne will host the inaugural Asia Pacific (APAC) Offshore Wind and Green Hydrogen Summit from 29-31 August, backed by the Andrews Labor Government.
The summit will bring more than 1,000 delegates to Melbourne for discussions aimed at advancing the uptake of offshore wind and green hydrogen production in the region.
Secured by the Melbourne Convention Bureau, the three-day conference will attract business travellers to Melbourne helping to fill hotel rooms and support jobs in the business events sector.
The summit provides an opportunity for the Labor Government to showcase its policies and programs in wind energy and green hydrogen to other governments, renewable energies bodies and industry leaders from the APAC region.
Victoria will be the home of Australia’s first offshore wind farms – a key part of achieving our offshore wind targets of 4 GW by 2035 and 9 GW by 2040 – and help us deliver up to 59,000 jobs as we work towards net zero by 2045.
Victoria has cut its emissions by more than any other state, tripled the amount of renewable energy and created thousands of jobs – but there is more to do, with an ambitious renewable energy target of 95 per cent by 2035.
The APAC Offshore Wind and Green Hydrogen Summit joins the strong calendar of business events secured by the Melbourne Convention Bureau for 2023, including the Rotary International Convention which will bring around 14,000 international and national visitors to Melbourne next month.
