Glow Up For Cowie’s Hill Water Tower

A new lighting installation will project art, animation and colourful designs on to the Cowie’s Hill Water Tower in Tarneit.

As part of the Tarneit Revitalisation Program, Wyndham City received funding to light and activate the water tower to create an exciting new focal point in Tarneit’s landscape.

Located at the corner of Annaliese Street and Pauline Way, the Cowie’s Hill Water Tower sits on top of a small hill and is a prominent piece of local infrastructure visible 360 degrees across Tarneit.

Locals are invited to contribute ideas for themes, colours and days of significance they would like projected and celebrated on the tower.

Wyndham City will use this feedback to generate a program of projections for the water tower. From Wednesday 25 May to Sunday 19 June everyone is encouraged to provide feedback via The Loop.

This exciting crossover of landscape design and the arts will also provide an opportunity for local creatives to collaborate with Council to bring the tower to life.

Wyndham City Creative City portfolio holder, Cr Marcel Mahfoud said: “The lighting of Cowie’s Hill Water Tower is an imaginative placemaking and urban renewal project that will inspire our residents, and help our community take an active role in shaping our shared spaces.”

“Our community will have the opportunity to influence the concepts and themes that shape the lighting designs and by doing this people will be able to help us with the beautification and reinvigoration of Tarneit.”

This project is being delivered in partnership with the Tarneit Revitalisation Board, Greater Western Water and Melbourne Water with $150,000 in funding from the Victorian Government.

The Tarneit Revitalisation Program champions projects to create a Tarneit that is cherished by locals for its active public spaces, a vibrant civic heart and expanding business ecosystem.
