Community organisations in Bundaberg will share in more than $145,000 from the latest round of grants from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF).
Member for Bundaberg Tom Smith shared the good news today and congratulated the five successful recipients.
“These grants deliver projects and services that really benefit our local community,” Mr Smith said.
“Across the State almost $11 million is going to 448 not-for-profit community groups in the latest round of the program.
“This valuable funding will be used for projects such as new lighting for the Across the Waves Mens Lawn Bowls Club, portable grandstands for Football Bundaberg and a new ride on mower for the Little Athletics Club.
“The Palaszczuk Government is extremely grateful for the role the organisations play in supporting minority groups, creating opportunities, and fostering community spirit and connectivity.”
United Park Eagles president Mark Haster said the injection of $35,000 from the State Government would allow the club to purchase new seating and shade covers.
“When we host clinics or have training this will provide seating for our young players and their families,” Mr Haster said.
“Even in winter the temperature can get pretty hot here in Bundaberg so this is really important in terms of providing better facilities for our members.
“With our budget we never have money left over to improve facilities, so this sort of funding can be a real game-changer for the club.”
Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Shannon Fentiman reminded organisations that round 112 is open for applications until 31 October and that we are just one round away from 2022’s round 113 – the super round.
“Next year is an exciting year for the GCBF, with the first-time inclusion of a super round when grants of up to $100,000 will be up for grabs,” Minister Fentiman said.
“I can’t wait to see the fruits of the hard work of these community groups, with a little help from their GCBF grants, in the future.”
