Government drags heels on business case, misses deadline, loses $30 million 05 June 2023

The minority Liberal Government has completely taken its eyes off the ball when it comes to securing significant projects for the North-West.

During Budget Estimates today, it was disclosed that it took the Office of the Coordinator General five years to complete a business case on the Cradle Mountain Cable Car.

Because the Rockliff Government has dragged its heels on this project, they missed the Australian Government’s deadline and $30 million of funding towards the project.

The Liberal Government had five years to get this done. Even Liberal Senator Jono Duniam highlighted the state Liberal government’s incompetence in senate estimates earlier this year.

As a result, they have put a $60 million tourism investment for Tasmania at risk.

This is yet another example of Premier Jeremy Rockliff having the wrong priorities for Tasmania.

This is a government that is so preoccupied with fighting among themselves and cutting terrible deals with the AFL that they have completely forgotten how to govern.
