- Applications for Round 6 of the Animal Welfare Grant Program now open
- Up to $50,000 available to animal care and rescue organisations
- $4.2 million worth of grants now delivered across regional and metropolitan WA
- Delivers on Cook Labor Government’s 2025 election commitment to extend program
Applications are now open for grants of up to $50,000 to support organisations working to improve the welfare of companion animals and wildlife across Western Australia.
The Cook Labor Government’s Animal Welfare Grant Program supports animal shelters, wildlife carers, rescue groups and rehabilitation centres, as well as companion animal foster carers and rescue networks.
Veterinary clinics, universities and local governments that provide low cost or free desexing, microchipping and veterinary care are also encouraged to apply.
Since the program was launched in 2021, $4.2 million has been shared by almost 150 recipients across regional and metropolitan WA to deliver a diverse range of animal welfare projects and services.
Previous grants have supported organisations including Kununurra’s Kangaroo Haven to rescue and rehabilitate wallabies, Emerald Acres Animal Rescue in Chittering to care for turtles and waterbirds, and Esperance Wildlife Sanctuary to care for threatened birds.
Funding has also helped Veterinary and Community Care provide free essential veterinary care for people experiencing hardship in Perth, as well as supporting the Animal Poisons Helpline and the Spay It Forward program.
