Aurizon, Australia’s largest rail freight operator today announced the opening of the first round of its Community Giving Fund for 2022.

Andrew Harding, Managing Director & CEO said the company is inviting community groups and charities located across its operations to apply for cash grants of up to $20,000 through the latest round of its funding.

“When assessing the eligibility for the grant, we are looking for projects that are contributing to Community Safety, Health & Wellbeing, Education or the Environment,” said Mr Harding. “Eligible charities and not-for-profit groups have until 29 April 2022 to apply for these cash grants.”

“With over 80% of our staff living in regional areas, the Community Giving Fund is a way for us as a company to give back to the communities in which we operate in, by providing these cash grants to eligible community organizations across our areas of operation.

“Over the past 11 years, Aurizon has supported more than 480 community organisations across Australia to deliver meaningful projects that are making our local communities better places to live in.

“A great example of what this funding can do is the grant we provided in December 2021 to the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services in North Queensland. They will use the funds to fit waterproof Automated Electronic Defibrillators to all Townsville State Emergency Service boats, allowing life sustaining first aid to be provided to people experiencing cardiac distress.
