Grow your ideas and help improve city

Could your organisation use up to $3000 to make a difference to the community?

Community Impact Grants are now open and allow the community to make a difference by tackling social and health issues.

The program aims to empower community organisations and individuals to grow ideas in an innovative and creative way, as well as looking to improve the city.

The grant can tackle issues such as obesity, family violence, mental illness and drug and alcohol-related harm.

You can also use a grant to enhance arts and culture or to address environmental sustainability.

Warriors Albury Wodonga Dragon Boat Club Inc used their grant in February for its fifth annual school community dragon boat event held in March.

The event attracted 160 students from eight high schools on both sides of the Border including students from Rutherglen and the Flexible Learning Centre.

The students participated in practice sessions that culminated with heats and then finals on the day.

Vice President Sandy Nickels thanked council for the club’s grant, saying the money ensured the annual school event continued.

Turtles Albury Wodonga were also successful in the February round of grants for their turtle nesting protection and conservation program.

The project aims to raise community awareness around the turtles in Sumsion Gardens.

Individuals auspiced by a community organisation can also apply for grants.
