Gutwein’s one Bill embarrassment highlights chaos and dysfunction

The chaos and dysfunction engulfing the Liberal Government has led to an embarrassing first week of Parliament for Premier Peter Gutwein.

Leader of Opposition Business in the House of Assembly Dean Winter said after a three month break from Parliament, the chaotic Liberal Government tabled just one Bill in its first week back.

“Peter Gutwein is tired and out of touch,” Mr Winter said.

“Instead of a Legislative agenda to improve the lives of Tasmanians and get the basics right, all he could announce was an ‘aspiration’ for a floating stadium in Hobart.

“This is a government that has given up on improving health services or housing or providing an education to Tasmanians and has bungled the economic basics.

“Labor will use this coming week in Parliament to continue to scrutinise the government’s lack of integrity and the fact that Peter Gutwein’s chaotic mishandling of the Jane Howlett, Sarah Courtney and Adam Brooks matters in the last 12 months just goes to show he can’t get the basics right.

“Labor’s priorities are those of Tasmanians. We want to see real wages growing, not going backwards like they are under Peter Gutwein’s economic management.”
