Following the success of Willoughby City Council’s first community information seminar, the series continues Monday 23 September in the Council Chambers. Willoughby locals can hear firsthand about Council’s plans to protect the environment.
Chaired by Mayor Gail Giles-Gidney, the information seminars are a forum for people to hear about significant issues and projects and to ask questions.
The September seminar will lift the lid on Council’s Green City Plan in a presentation by David Roberts, Environment Manager, Willoughby City Council. Mr Roberts will share how Council will work over the next 10 years to enhance bushland, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, support sustainable lifestyles and better manage waste.
Mr Roberts’ presentation will include information on projects to meet greenhouse gas emission targets, rethinking transport infrastructure for a changing world, balancing ecological health with urbanisation and the challenges and opportunities in waste and recycling.
The seminary will also feature a presentation by Kristin Gabriel, Deputy Chief Resilience Officer, Resilient Sydney. She will talk about the Resilient Sydney program – a collaboration between governments, businesses and communities across Sydney to identify local responses to global and city challenges such as heatwaves, storms and cyber-attacks.

The topic for each seminar will be announced on the Monday at least one week prior to the seminar.
