Could restoration projects for your heritage building do with some financial help?
Applications are now open for Clarence Valley Council’s 2022 round of Heritage Assistance Grants.
The local heritage grants are to assist owners and community trustees in the maintenance, conservation and interpretation of heritage items and places of heritage significance in Heritage Conservation Areas identified in the Clarence Valley Local Environmental Plan 2011.
Funding is offered on a rotational basis and this year’s priority area is Grafton and South Grafton. Owners of heritage items and historic properties in the Heritage Conservation Area are invited to apply. Owners may apply for a project from outside the priority area, however allocation to the priority area will occur first.
Grants will be offered up to $2,000 per property and require dollar-for-dollar matching contribution by the owner subject to the available budget.
Some examples of projects that could be eligible for funding include repairing original timber windows or balustrades, reinstating a fence to its original design, painting in an authentic heritage colour scheme or even providing some interpretive information about the heritage story of your building or site.
Funding is targeted to projects with sustainable long-term heritage benefits that provide public benefit and enjoyment.
Applicants require at least one trade quote, preferably two, to submit, as well as ‘before the project’ photos and any interesting historical information which may enhance the application.
