Mill Park Divisional Response Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding a targeted arson attack in Mill Park this morning.
Emergency services were called following reports of a fire at the front of a home in Ford Court about 1.15am.
Detectives have been told a family who were home at the time were able to evacuate to the rear yard after they were woken by the fire and heard what sounded like gunshots.
It’s believed no shots were fired.
The residents were lucky to escape injury.
Detectives will investigate whether the fire is linked to any other incidents.
A crime scene has been established, and it’s expected an arson chemist and detectives will attend the scene today.
