Hon. Kevin Greene re-elected as Mayor of Georges River

Georges River Council

The Hon. Kevin Greene was re-elected as Mayor of Georges River tonight at an Extraordinary Meeting of Council.

Councillor Kevin Greene, who has been elected Georges River’s Mayor at every Mayoral election since September 2017, said he was proud to continue to represent the residents of Georges River.

“I am honoured to be re-elected as Mayor of Georges River and I thank my fellow Councillors for their support,” Councillor Greene said.

“We have achieved a great deal since the creation of Georges River Council and we will continue to achieve the best possible outcomes for our community.

“I am proud of the social, economic and cultural services we have established in Georges River and I will continue to advocate for additional opportunities for our community.

“I look forward to maintaining and elevating the diverse services and facilities in our community so that we can attract investment and jobs and establish Georges River as a key strategic centre in Sydney,” Councillor Greene said.

Mayor Greene will be joined again by Councillor Stephen Agius as Deputy Mayor.

Councillor Agius said, “I look forward to continuing to support our community through the COVID-19 pandemic and making sure we are in the best possible position to open up after restrictions ease.”

NSW Council elections have been delayed until December 2021 due to the current COVID-19 outbreak. Under the Local Government Act, all councils where the Mayor was elected by councillors in 2019, are required to hold a Mayoral election in September.
