Housing waiting lists soar

Liberal Party Victoria

Victoria’s most vulnerable have been forgotten by the Andrews Labor Government as housing waiting lists continue to grow.

At long last, the latest data from the Housing Register for the September Quarter has finally been published.

The lack of attention to the growing numbers of families crying out for a roof over their head demonstrates the blatant disregard that Labor has for vulnerable Victorian families.

There are now over 29,200 Victorian families on the priority access waitlist, with a total of nearly 53,000 Victorians waiting for housing.

These numbers represent an increase of over 1,000 more desperate families languishing on the waiting list than there were last quarter.

How many more thousands of Victorians need to join this ever-growing list before something is done?

As stated by Shadow Minister for Housing, Ryan Smith:

“Glossy press statements and empty promises do little to put a roof over the heads of Victoria’s most vulnerable.

“Judge this government by what they do, not what they say. Labor say they are committed to supporting vulnerable Victorian families, but the waiting lists keep growing.”
