Swift & Moore has received 35 bottles of this rare release from Glengoyne, from just 402 bottles released worldwide, and its retail partners snapped up all of Swift & Moore’s allocation within the 24 hours of its release.
Of course, a whisky so special was always going to be prized. There is, however, a collection of very fine whiskies that don’t cost over $6,000. There’s the Brazil nuts and soft oak of Glengoyne’s 10 Year Old ($95), the perfect first-fill and refill sherry balance of the 18 Year Old ($225), and the distinctive Christmas cake character of the 21 Year Old ($299).
There’s also a wonderful story to tell about the gift that got away. The 36 Year Old Russell Family Single Cask, was personally selected by three generations of the Russell family, Peter, Leonard and Tom Russell. After sampling cask number 1549, they were unanimous in their decision. This exquisite and rare classic Glengoyne single malt bottle at 50.7% ABV is at its peak, taking time to develop colour and deep oak richness without overpowering Glengoyne’s sweet, fruity characters. Its silky rich and creamy, balanced malt gives way to tropical fruits, dried banana chips and chocolate cherry with a long, rich finish of sherry and spices.
