Working from dawn to dark is not an unusual phenomenon in agriculture, but now a new program designed specifically for those in the grains and cotton industries to improve time management and personal productivity is available.
THRIVE – Productivity for Progress – is a personal effectiveness program for ‘go getters’ in the grains and cotton sectors. The program looks at values and goal setting; business and personal organisation and time management; strategies for effective networking and communication; as well as conflict management and negotiation.
Delivered by House Paddock Training and Consulting and administrated by Tocal College the THRIVE course is offered through the AgSkilled program, a NSW Government funded training initiative, led by industry partners the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) and Cotton Australia.
Aimed at business owners, managers, emerging managers and engaged employees, the course will be delivered via a webinar, workplace exercises, as well as a two-day workshop at a regional location.
THRIVE Project Manager Rebecca Fing said the course was developed in response to industry demand and was designed for people at all stages and of all ages, who were working in the farm business.
“We are excited about this program, which has been developed following the enormous interest and support in our Generating Regionally Outstanding Women (GROW) course. Essentially our THRIVE program aims to help people ‘re-boot’ their productivity and get more out of their day,” Mrs Fing said.
“The course will help participants identify how they can improve their time management and organisational skills and set effective goals, at both a personal and business level.
“We will also look at strategies for developing and maintaining networks, as well as tips for managing conflict, having difficult conversations and negotiating positive outcomes.”
Numbers are limited and registrations are essential. Applications for Moree close June 22 and 20 July for Dubbo. Funding is available for those involved in the grains and cotton industries.

- Moree: starts July 8 with webinar and pre-course work; two-day workshop August 1-2.
- Dubbo: starts July 29 with webinar and pre-course work; two-day workshop August 21-22.
