What is a Sprinkler Fitter?
In almost every school, shopping centre, hospital, residential and office building, you can look up and expect to see a sprinkler system fixed to the ceiling – this is where a Sprinkler Fitter comes in!
A Sprinkler Fitter is responsible for installing, inspecting, and repairing sprinkler systems. Duties typically include installing fixtures, fixing and replacing defective and outdated sprinklers, and soldering and welding pipes, tubes, and fittings designed for sprinklers. You are also expected to test sprinkler systems to ensure that they are working correctly as they wear over time.
In order to legally work as a Sprinkler Fitter in Australia, you may be subject to strict registration and/or licencing requirements in your state or territory. It’s a good idea to familiarise yourself with these requirements before you start your apprenticeship.
