Expressions of interest are now open for the Restoration Contributions Advisory Committee (RCAC).
The RCAC has been established under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act). It will support the new restoration contributions system, also established under the EPBC Act.
The RCAC will provide advice to the Restoration Contributions Holder (RCH) and the Minister on how the system will work.
Under the new reforms, the system gives project proponents new ways to meet offset requirements. Where available, they can:
- pay a charge to the RCH
- deliver environmental offsets
- use both options.
The RCAC will advise on:
- functions or powers of the RCH
- matters relating to restoration contributions
- matters relating to bioregional plan registration charges or bioregional plan restoration contributions
- matters relating to exemption charges
- other functions prescribed by the regulations.

We’re looking for people with knowledge in:
- conservation science, ecology, biodiversity
- traditional land use and First Nations knowledge (including Indigenous land management practices)
- restoration practice and natural resource management
- environmental regulation and governance
- markets, financial risk, investment and liability management
- public policy, economics or strategic planning.
