Innovation Month: showcasing creativity of public sector

Ever wondered how creative the Australian Public Service (APS) is?

The APS Innovation Month is back in July and it’s all about showcasing and celebrating creativity, thinking differently and trying new approaches in government.

And in its ninth year, Innovation Month will be experimental, with all events online for the first time ever, making it easier to get involved.

The theme is ‘delivering differently’, reflecting the public service’s outcomes-focused response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the past few months, the APS has been collaborating, experimenting, pivoting, learning quickly and sharing lessons, to continue serving Australians during this challenging period.

During Innovation Month we’ll not only reflect on the good work that’s been happening but we’ll also think about how to apply what we’ve learned to our future work.

The Public Sector Innovation Network coordinate the month. That’s the Australian Government network helping public servants understand and apply innovation in their daily work.

Event program

What sort of event can you expect to find on the program? Anything from a panel discussion with some heavy hitters about space, water and data, to an online futures game.

All events are free to attend. Government and non-government organisations from around Australia and across the globe are hosting events.

Curious? Check out the program to see what’s on offer.

Make sure you register for each event so you can get the link to join online. We also suggest testing your set-up ahead of time to ensure you’re able to use whichever platform is being used.
