The McGowan Government is pleased to announce that the inquiry into wage theft in Western Australia is complete.
Wage theft is the systematic and deliberate underpayment of wages and entitlements to a worker.
The inquiry was tasked with examining the incidence and impact of wage theft occurring in Western Australia and providing recommendations on strategies to combat wage theft.
It was undertaken by the former Chief Commissioner of the Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission Tony Beech.
As stated by Industrial Relations Minister Bill Johnston:
“I’m very pleased to receive the inquiry report from Tony Beech and I thank him for all his hard work.
“Once I’ve finished reviewing the report and its recommendations to combat wage theft, I will comment further.”
