The program will boost the capacity of not-for-profit community organisations to better identify, recognise and support unpaid carers.
Building on the record of the previous grant round, the Carers Investment Grant Program will deliver grants of $50,000 to $100,000 to support a range of 16 to 32 projects.
This represents a significant increase from the seven projects funded under the previous round.
Projects will commence from 1 March 2027 and run for 15 months until 30 June 2028 with applications expected to focus on:
- Increasing recognition, respect and empowerment of carers
- Improving access and engagement with services and support that respond to carer’s economic, health and wellbeing needs
- Strengthening education and awareness about the role of carers, how to identify them, carer rights and providing referrals to support.
The Carers Investment Grant Program forms part of the NSW Carers Strategy 2020-2030, which sets the framework to strengthen recognition and empowerment, create better economic opportunities, support health and wellbeing and improve access to services for unpaid carers.
The Minns Labor Government is proud to support the almost one million carers who call NSW home through initiatives such as:
- The Connecting Seniors and Carers Program
- Companion Card Program
- NSW National Carers Week Grants
Applications for the Carers Investment Grant Program open today, 30 October 2026 at 9am and close on 20 November 2026 at 5pm.

Minister with responsibility for carers Jodie Harrison said:
“Unpaid carers devote countless hours to supporting their loved ones, often putting their own wellbeing and needs second.
“The Carers Investment Grant Program is designed to connect carers to the support they need to engage with services and be recognised as carers in their own right.
“We know this program has a solid track record of equipping frontline workers like mental health specialists and government services staff with resources and knowledge to better support carers whether it be through referrals, recognition or support.”
