It’s easy to be green

From humble beginnings, the Albury Wodonga Sustainable Living Festival has transformed into a week-long event.

The festival puts the spotlight on sustainability in November across Albury and Wodonga.

The program features the Sustainable Living Fair with more than 50 exhibits and 18 programmed events in the two cities.

Wodonga Mayor Cr Anna Speedie encouraged the community to get involved in the festival.

“More Border residents are realising that it’s not hard to be green and live more sustainably,” Wodonga Mayor Cr Anna Speedie said.

“We hope residents will become empowered to make some small changes in their everyday to their energy use or other sustainable activities.

“We want them to take home ideas to make it happen.”

AlburyCity Deputy Mayor Amanda Cohn said the fair offered locals and visitors a chance to make a real difference.

“This year’s calendar has got something for everyone – whether it’s your first time, or you attend the festival every year,” she said.

“From the fun and family-friendly Sustainable Living Fair, to thought-provoking docos and practical hands-on workshops, there’s really something for everyone to take their next steps to reduce waste and power bills.”

This year’s highlights will include:

• The Sustainable Living Fair at Gateway Village, Lincoln Causeway, Wodonga on Saturday, November 16 from 8am to 1pm.

• How to become carbon neutral by 2030 workshop at Sustainable Activity Centre, gateway Village, Lincoln Causeway, Wodonga from 1pm to 4pm.

• And a variety of workshops including using cloth nappies and gardening with sprouts.
