The betr Darwin Triple Crown has wrapped up in style, with the roars of cars and jets signalling the end of the biggest Darwin Supercars program in history.

Over 40,000 attendances were recorded across three days of fierce racing, outstripping last year’s figure attendance figures which generated $28 million for the Territory economy. This comes as visitor numbers during major events continue to exceed expectations, following huge BASSINTHEGRASS, football, and Parrtjima turnouts earlier in the year.

Crowds flocked to family events across Darwin and Palmerston as the Finocchiaro CLP Government puts our unique Territory lifestyle front and centre.

Minister for Tourism and Hospitality and Minister for Major Events, Marie-Clare Boothby, said the 2026 Darwin Supercars were unmatched.

“Incredible racing, breathtaking flyovers and aerial stunts, tens of thousands of visitors, and nearly a week of jam-packed family fun – 2026 has been a Supercars for the books,” Minister Boothby said.

“With the introduction of night and twilight races next year, we are absolutely pumped for 2027.

“The world is absolutely discovering what we already know: there’s nowhere better to live, work, visit, and invest – and race – than here in the Northern Territory.”

Entertainment across the precinct kept crowds buzzing, with Summernats Goes Top End, Monster Trucks, live performances, the Pit Lane Walk, and aerial displays including the Paul Bennett stunt plane and an Australian Defence Force flyover.

Supercars Executive Chairman and Acting Chief Executive Officer, Barclay Nettlefold, said that it had been a sensational week of activities.

“From the transporter convoy rolling into Darwin to the final chequered flag, there’s been an incredible energy around this event all week. The racing has been fierce, the atmosphere electric, and once again Darwin has delivered on every level,” Mr Nettlefold said.

“A huge thank you to the team at Tourism & Events Northern Territory and to the fans at Hidden Valley, who show up year after year and make this event so special.

“We can’t wait to be back in 2027 for Supercars racing under lights in the NT – it’s going to be an unmissable spectacle.”

Overall Darwin Triple Crown winner, Cam Waters, said the Darwin round was one of his favourite events, thanks in part to the track and the fans.

“Getting to swap Melbourne’s winter for the Top End’s dry season is pretty special. Darwin puts on perfect conditions for racing and it’s a great place to spend a few days,” Mr Waters said.

“I’m already looking forward to coming back next year. Racing under the lights at Hidden Valley is going to be something special.”

A staple of the Supercars Championship since 1998, the Darwin round will return in 2027 with a brand new twilight and night racing format, cementing the Territory’s place as the premier destination for motor-sports and major events.

Minister Boothby concluded: “In our year of growth, certainty, and security, we are backing motor-sports and events as we restore our unique Territory lifestyle, and grow our visitor economy.”
