Jetstar Asia Becomes Only Airline to Fly Direct from Singapore to Okinawa

Jetstar Asia (3K) has resumed direct flights from Singapore to Okinawa, becoming the only airline to fly non-stop between the Lion City and Japan’s stunning island holiday destination.

The sold-out Airbus A320, took off from Singapore’s Changi Airport this morning at 02:18 (SGT), arriving in Naha Airport just after 08:30 (JST), marking the resumption of Jetstar Asia’s second Japanese route following the relaunch of services to Osaka last week.

Operating three return services each week, the Singapore low-cost carrier will offer more than 54,000 low fares between the popular destinations each year, responding to increasing demand and helping revitalize travel between Singapore and Japan.

Jetstar Asia CEO, Barathan Pasupathi said they were delighted to connect Singaporeans and Southeast Asia travellers with this must-visit island once again.

“Our low fares will give more customers the opportunity to experience this incredible tropical paradise, from its pristine beaches and delicious food to its unique culturalexperiences, Okinawa caters to those seeking both relaxation and adventure,” Mr. Barathan said.

“Japan remains high of the wish-list for many travellers, and we are committed to expanding our network, enhancing connectivity, supporting tourism and helping our customers create incredible memories.

“Likewise, we know that Japanese travellers are excited to have easy access to Singapore, a city known for its iconic attractions and diverse activities.”

Okinawa Prefectural Government Singapore Representative Office, Director Heat Ikehara welcomed Jetstar back to Okinawa and said they were overjoyed for the arrival of the first flight from Singapore after a three-year suspension due to COVID.

“I would like to thank Jetstar and JNTO from the bottom of my heart for making the re-launch of this route happen,” Mr. Ikehara said.

“Okinawa is the closest part of Japan to Singapore and offers a unique mix of various cultures as well as untouched nature, such as the World Natural Heritage Site of Yanbaru and Iriomote Island, which is surrounded by crystal-clear blue sea.

“We encourage everyone to come to visit Okinawa for theunique ‘Japan-but-not-Japan’ experience that is only available in here, on our heaven on earth island.”

Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) Singapore Representative Office Executive Director, Takuya Shiraishi said they were excited to finally see that the long-awaited flight connectivity between Singapore and Okinawa had begun once again with a strong start after such a long pause.

“With this strong start, we believe that more and more visitors from Singapore will be able to discover the charms of Okinawa and the hidden gems of Japan,” Mr Shiraishi added.
