Kindy kids prove it’s never too early to learn bicycle safety

Senior Constables Ben Biering and Adam Niemiec from Fortitude Valley Bike Squad and and Senior Constable Diana Kratochvil from Gateway Crime Prevention Unit recently enjoyed a great day teaching our littlest bike riders all about road safety.

The kindy kids learned all about being safe bike riders and pedestrians and even challenged our Bike Squad officers to a friendly race around the car park.

It’s never too early to speak to your kids about being safe on the road!

Follow these tips when you’re riding:

  • Always wear your helmet fastened.
  • Obey the road rules; stop at red lights and stop signs and give way as indicated by road signs.
  • Use clear hand signals when changing direction; your hand should be open, with your palm facing forward.
  • Consider wearing a hi-visibility vest, like our kindy riders, especially at night.

Bicycle riders are some of our most vulnerable road users and this is why we should all be considerate when sharing our roads.
