Murray River Council has endorsed the draft Koraleigh Recreation Reserve Master Plan and is now inviting the community to offer feedback.
The draft Master Plan provides a long-term vision to guide the future development, renewal and management of the reserve, ensuring it continues to meet the needs of the local community for years to come.
Mayor Cr John Harvie said the reserve is an important community hub for Koraleigh and the surrounding district.
“The Koraleigh Recreation Reserve is more than a sporting precinct; it is a place for recreation, community events and social connection,” Cr Harvie said.
“This Master Plan provides a roadmap for the reserve’s future, helping Council plan improvements over time while ensuring investment reflects the needs and priorities of the community.”
The reserve is home to a range of community facilities, including tennis courts, a clubhouse, playground, basketball court, sports oval, open space areas and Rural Fire Service infrastructure.
Prepared by CT Management Group, the draft Master Plan was informed by strategic planning, site assessments, community and stakeholder engagement, asset condition reviews and consideration of future population and usage trends.
The Plan identifies a staged approach to future improvements, including:
- A new multi-purpose community centre.
- A separate Rural Fire Service facility.
- An upgraded inclusive playground.
- Improved shared path connections to the village.
- Enhanced public amenities, landscaping and parking.
- Rationalisation of underutilised areas to improve long-term sustainability.
Cr Harvie said the Master Plan establishes a strategic direction only, with individual projects to be considered as funding opportunities arise.
“The Master Plan does not commit Council to delivering every project immediately. Rather, it provides a clear vision that will help guide future investment decisions and strengthen Council’s ability to seek external funding,” he said.
Council is encouraging residents, community groups and stakeholders to review the draft Master Plan and provide feedback during the public exhibition period.
