Doug Ferguson has been named as KPMG’s new NSW State Chair, effective 1 March 2019.

Doug will assume responsibilities from current Chair, Martin Blake who remains with the firm as Lead Partner for the NSW Government account.
Doug joined KPMG in 1997 as a graduate in the Sydney Financial Services Audit practice. From 2001, he transferred with KPMG China to Hong Kong and Beijing to work in the cross border deal advisory practice. He was promoted to Partner in the KPMG China firm in 2008 and played a key role in the firm’s regional Lehman Brothers Asia insolvency engagement for three years, before returning to Australia to lead KPMG’s China Practice in 2012. His responsibilities were expanded to lead the firm’s Asia Business Group in 2013, followed by the Asia & International Markets Practice in 2015, which has grown rapidly at 20 percent per annum. Doug will continue to lead this business.
In his NSW Chairman’s role, Doug will work closely with more than 250 Partners and 3,300 people across five offices to drive NSW growth, increase connectivity with clients, and help lead people initiatives.

Martin Blake will hand over to Doug Ferguson after seven years in the role as KPMG’s NSW Chairman.

The firm looks forward to the benefits of Martin’s considerable government and financial skills in his continuing work as a senior partner of the firm.”
Martin joined KPMG in 1995 and was promoted to partner in 1998. In 2001, Martin transitioned to the publicly listed KPMG US Consulting Business (called BearingPoint), where he led the Financial Services business in Australia before returning to KPMG in 2005 as a Partner in Management Consulting focused on transformation programs in Financial Services. Martin was the Head of Business Development for the Advisory division and the Head of the Financial Services Advisory practice in Australia from 2005 -2011. He took on the role of NSW Chairman in 2011.
