Labor candidates offer Tasmanians a positive Legislative Council choice 02 May 2024

Tas Labor

Tasmanians in the seats of Hobart, Elwick and Prosser have the chance to elect true representatives of their communities when they head to the polls this Saturday to vote for their new Legislative Council representatives.

I am proud of the candidates running for Labor and I know they would work incredibly hard on behalf of their communities, and are committed to transparency and openness in government and the whole Parliament.

In the seat of Hobart, former Tasmanian Australian of the Year John Kamara is an outstanding candidate, humanitarian and advocate, who is passionate about making a difference for people in need.

John would be the first refugee elected to the Tasmanian Parliament and would add some much-needed diversity to Parliament.

In Elwick, electrician Tessa McLaughlin would be an excellent addition, fighting for the people in her community to ensure no-one goes without the basics and everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

And, in Prosser, former Labor Leader Bryan Green has the experience and track record of working hard to represent regional communities and make life better for Tasmanians.

All three Labor candidates understand the importance of safe, secure and well-paid jobs for Tasmanians and want to see more transparency and openness in government.

On behalf of the entire Labor team, I wish John, Tessa and Bryan every success on Saturday and hope to see them join us in Parliament so we can continue to hold this government to account and build a better Tasmania.
