Labor Endorsed CFMEU Corruption On Metro Tunnel

Liberal Party Victoria

As revealed by The Age, Jacinta Allan and Labor knew the CFMEU’s corrupt conduct on the Metro Tunnel was driving massive labour cost blowouts but directed contractors to pay up and carry on, including $200 million to cope with out-of-control industrial relations.

Instead of stepping in to protect taxpayers, the Allan Labor Government ordered contractors to bow to the CFMEU’s demands, buy their way out of trouble, and hide the true cost from the Victorian public.

Shadow Minister for Transport Infrastructure, Evan Mulholland, said: “Jacinta Allan and Labor not only turned a blind eye to CFMEU corruption, they actively endorsed it.

”For years, Jacinta Allan has stood up in Parliament and claimed she had ‘zero tolerance’ for union excesses. Now we have the smoking gun. While Victorian families struggle under the weight of a cost-of-living crisis and higher taxes, Labor was secretly using taxpayer funds to subsidise union thuggery.

”The Metro Tunnel cost skyrocketed past $15 billion, because the Premier chose to capitulate to the CFMEU rather than stand up for the Victorian taxpayer. This is a systemic betrayal of public trust.

”Victoria isn’t working under Labor and the only way to stop the rot is to change the government.

”Only our Liberal and Nationals team will hold a Royal Commission, empower IBAC to follow the money immediately and put a new Construction Enforcement Victoria watchdog on the beat.”
