Lakes Reserve officially opened

The $3.34 million upgrade of The Lakes Reserve has been officially opened in Taylors Lakes.

Brimbank Mayor, Cr Georgina Papafotiou officially opened the upgraded and expanded Lakes Reserve in Chichester Drive, Taylors Lakes, with a community celebration held on Thursday 27 February.

‘The Lakes Reserve has been transformed into a vibrant, green space for people to relax, play and enjoy more activities.

‘The $3.34 million transformation has added a fantastic new activity and leisure area, BBQs, half basketball court, fitness station and much more.

‘There’s also an upgraded playground with new equipment, shelter and barbeque facilities. Set in scenic parkland alongside the beautiful lake area, the Lakes Reserve has something for everyone.

‘People can enjoy better views and a more open feel, with improved safety, plenty of natural shade and more space for picnics with family and friends.

‘We’ve also added a 2km shared user path from Sunshine Avenue to Kings Road – making it easier to take in the views when walking or riding around the park.

‘This is such an amazing space for Taylors Lakes and for people across Brimbank who travel to enjoy our beautiful parks.

‘There’s heaps to explore at The Lakes Reserve, the kids will love the new additions, and no doubt it will become a regular playground to visit in Brimbank.

‘This space confirms Brimbank City Council’s commitment to providing high quality parks, playgrounds and open spaces for Brimbank residents.

‘Having a healthy, active community is so important to Brimbank. It’s all part of the works guided by Council’s award-winning Creating Better Parks Policy and Plan,’ Cr Papafotiou said.

This project was jointly funded by Brimbank City Council ($3.09 million) and Sports and Recreation Victoria ($250,000), through the Victorian Government’s Community Sports Infrastructure Fund.
