Lara pool to reopen next month

Lara Aquatic Centre

will reopen ahead of schedule for dedicated lap swimmers, following an allocation of additional funding.

$110,000 was allocated in the latest COVID-19 community and economic support package to allow the six-lane, 50-metre Olympic pool at the facility to open from 1 October.

The Lara Aquatic Centre traditionally opens from November each year.

The reopening of the Lara Aquatic Centre will offer further opportunities for lap swimmers, following the return of the Kardinia Aquatic Centre’s 10-lane FINA pool on 18 September.

In further good news, under the ‘Third Step’ of the Victorian Government’s roadmap to reopening, the two facilities can host up to 50 people at a time and can open change rooms, showers and toilets.

Bookings are essential at both venues, with Lara Aquatic Centre bookings opening to the public next week.

Swimmers have the option of paying a casual entry fee or purchasing a special multi-visit card.

All suspended Swim, Sport & Leisure memberships, including Webstar’s Swim School membership, will remain on hold and no membership debits will be taken.
