Leederville and Mt Hawthorn Incidents

Major Fraud Squad have charged a man following an incident in Leederville on Friday, 16 August 2019.

It will be alleged that about 4:30pm the 30 year old male victim and the accused were involved in a minor traffic crash on Oxford Street. Following the crash, the accused drove his vehicle into the rear victim’s vehicle, narrowly missing the victim who had exited.

It is further alleged that the accused and a passenger demanded the victim drive with them to an automatic teller machine in Mt Hawthorn and withdraw a quantity of cash. When the victim handed over a lesser sum of cash he was assaulted.

The accused then threatened the victim and demanded he drove them to Glendalough Train Station.

On Saturday 17 August 2019, the accused was arrested in Rockingham. The 32 year old man from Cooloongup has been charged with:

– Two counts of Unlawful act or omission with intent to harm (endangering life, health or safety of any person)

– Aggravated Armed Robbery

– Detained another with Intent to Gain a Benefit

He appeared in the Perth Magistrates Court today (20 August 2019) and will reappear on 10 September 2019.
