Lessons for Labor

Jeremy Rockliff,Minister for Education and Training

Instead of reckless fearmongering, Labor’s Josh Willie should get his facts straight when it comes to Tasmania’s eSchools.

We will not and have not cut funding for students.

The Tasmanian eSchool will continue to maintain teaching staff ABOVE the 2016 eSchool review recommendations.

Four fixed term contracts have come to an end at the eSchool, with these staff securing permanent positions at other schools.

Additional eSchool support staff have meanwhile been employed, including school psychologists and social workers with teacher assistant hours also having been increased.

Fluctuations in eSchool staffing numbers are common and based on student enrolments and specific needs.

We will always do what is in the best interest of students.

ESchool ensures pupils receive the same learning opportunities as their peers in mainstream schools with innovative and tailored learning experiences to the individual student.

It’s clear Labor are the ones who need educating when it comes to the facts.
