Liberals must either rule out alarming neo-fascist connection or denounce candidate

Tasmanian Labor

The Rockliff-Ferguson Liberal Government must come clean on startling claims about a Liberal Party campaign worker and his connections with the neo-fascist group the Proud Boys.

Serious claims have been made about Burnie City Council candidate Jarrod Boys and his connection to the Proud Boys – while he was working on Liberal Party campaigns.

Premier Jeremy Rockliff must commit to investigate Mr Boys’ connections to the group and, if they have any basis, denounce him.

He must be up front with Tasmanians and tell them if he is a current member of the Liberal Party and, if so, will he act immediately to expel him?

What Liberal Party campaigns has he worked on?

Has he ever been paid by the party or worked in a political office?

The beliefs and actions of the Proud Boys around the world have no place in Tasmanian politics at any level and Mr Rockliff has to act.
