Local businesses large and small, media and community organisations have come together to support the Griffith Bushfire Benefit Concert to raise much needed funds for rebuilding efforts in communities devastated by this summer’s bushfires.
The concert, presented by Griffith City Council, Murrumbidgee Regional Conservatorium of Music (MRCM) and Western Riverina Arts, is being held this Friday 13 March from 4pm at Memorial Park.
All proceeds from the concert which has a line-up of great local talent, will go to Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) which offers direct grants to affected communities to support their individual rebuilding efforts and to WIRES Australian Wildlife Rescue to assist carers of injured wildlife.
Casella Family Brands and Yenda Brewing Company were among the first to sign up to support the family friendly event, stocking and staffing the bar, and returning all profits to the cause. These iconic local companies are renowned for their generosity and willingness to support local and community causes.
Jonathan Streat from Yenda Brewing Company said, “We have all been shocked by the horrific impact of these fires, and Casella’s Family Brands and Yenda Brewing Co have already made significant donations to support the bushfire relief effort. But when we were asked to support this local event we did not hesitate, as we know the rebuilding effort could take years.”
Coates Hire have been another generous supporter providing fencing, toilets, generators and ‘anything else you need’ completely free of charge. Mark Macedone from Pristine Productions has generously donated his time and equipment for all the artists performing on the night, and Keeno Jumping Castles and Bunnings will keep the kids occupied during the event.
Local media outlets have also jumped on board to promote the event, with Southern Cross Austereo providing free advertising and also providing HIT 99.7 breakfast team, Claire and Brando to emcee the event. WIN TV has provided fantastic TV advertising, while The Area News and 2MIA are also supporting the event.
Event organizer Raina Savage said, “The response from everyone we approached has been overwhelming. Council embraced the idea with generous financial and in-kind support, and local musicians and Indian dancers lined up to entertain the crowd. The response from businesses is incredibly generous, and of course community organisations are supporting us with food on the night, the Sikh community and Yenda and Avanti Rotary groups making sure everyone is fed.”
All local residents are invited to bring a chair or picnic rug to Griffith Memorial Park on Friday to support the event and enjoy a fabulous family evening.
The Griffith Bushfire Benefit will be held at Memorial Park on Banna Avenue on Friday 13March from 4pm to 9.30pm.
Tickets are $25 adults Advance (until 5pm 12 March) and $30 on the gate. Children 5-17years $10 and under 5 years are free.
