Even the hot weather didn’t deter Kempsey Adventist School students from getting their hands dirty at the West Kempsey Pump Track last week.

On Thursday, 33 students as well as Jamie and Ash from Gone Native worked alongside Kempsey Shire Council’s Community Development team to give the pump track a spring clean.

400 kilograms of weeds were removed from the gardens and nearby embankment before native shrubs and grasses, supplied by Gone Native, were nestled into the ground. The best thing about the fresh plantings is that not only does it make the area look schmick, but it also helps increase the biodiversity of the area.

The existing furniture also received artistic touch-ups by the students with support from Damon and Kane from Iknowgraffix, adding more colour and vitality to the space.

Well done to students, Gone Native and Iknowgraffix who all did an amazing job enhancing the pump track to benefit the whole community.
