Optus Stadium and RAC Arena have started a recruitment drive to employ hundreds more workers following confirmation that Western Australia’s biggest venues can host events at full capacity again.
Both Optus Stadium and RAC Arena have fast tracked their recruitment processes with an initial focus on casual positions to re-build the event day workforce as quickly as possible.
These positions include roles such as front of house ushers, wait staff, beverage attendants and technical assistants.
At Optus Stadium alone, it is expected around 600 more positions will need to be filled as the venue moves to pre-COVID capacity. On a major event day, up to 1,500 people work at the stadium across all areas from retail to customer service.
Meanwhile, RAC Arena is currently recruiting to fill around 80 casual positions. Once event touring kicks off and the venue is operating at pre-COVID levels again, there will be a requirement for a further 300 casual positions to be filled.
The events staff recruitment drive follows the end of the Federal Government’s JobKeeper Payment and JobSeeker Payment at the end of March.
People 15 years and over of all abilities are encouraged to apply for a range of jobs which are very flexible and can suit people who are looking for as little as one day a week of work.
This weekend marks a busy weekend across VenuesWest venues with a number of events scheduled, including:
- West Coast Eagles vs Collingwood Magpies at Optus Stadium on Friday;
- Perth Wildcats vs Melbourne United at RAC Arena on Friday;
- Western Force vs NSW Waratahs at HBF Park on Saturday; and
- Perth Glory vs Wellington Phoenix at HBF Park on Sunday.
There is currently an industry-wide shortage of staff due to fewer student and holiday visa holders, as well as locals pursuing jobs in industries that have been less impacted by the pandemic.
However, job seekers will have the opportunity to be part of a broad range of events on the calendar, with acts such as The Wiggles, Amy Shark, Delta Goodrem and Tame Impala expected to perform at RAC Arena this year.
A range of huge sporting events are also set to be held at Optus Stadium, making the venue an exciting place to work.
As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister Tony Buti:
“It is fantastic news for Western Australians looking for employment opportunities following the Premier’s announcement that venues will be back to 100 per cent capacity.
“Western Australia is on the track to recovery and we are committed to ensuring employment opportunities continue to rise. This is one of our highest priorities.
