Man and woman charged following pursuit across Sydney’s west

A man and a woman have been charged following a police pursuit through Sydney’s west yesterday.

About 9.50am yesterday (Thursday 20 July 2023), officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command were conducting patrols when they detected an allegedly stolen vehicle travelling through Casula.

When the Hyundai Sonata sedan failed to stop as directed, a police pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns. PolAir continued to monitor the vehicle before it crashed on North Rocks Road at North Rocks just after 11am yesterday.

The driver – a 39-year-old man – and passenger – a 37-year-old woman – were arrested at the scene and taken to Ryde Police Station.

The woman was charged with six offences including possess unregistered firearm in public place, aggravated break and enter, and stealing.

The man was charged with 20 offences including possess unregistered firearm in public place, police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, aggravated break and enter, fraud and stealing.

They were both refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Friday 21 July 2023).
