Man bitten while swimming, NSW

A swimmer is receiving treatment after being injured while swimming at Sydney’s Northern Beaches this morning.

Around 6am (Tuesday 2 July 2019), the man – believed to be aged in his mid-50s – thought he had been bitten while swimming with friends at Shelly Beach.

He was able to swim to nearby rocks and raise the alarm.

No shark has been sighted at this time and it is unknown how the puncture wound was sustained.

The Manly resident was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for a puncture wound to his back and injuries to his leg and stomach before being taken to hospital.
