Man caught more than four times legal limit in Sydney CBD

A man has been charged after he was allegedly caught driving while more than four times the legal limit in the Sydney CBD overnight.

About 9.50pm (Friday 28 August 2020), officers from Sydney City Police Area Command were patrolling The Rocks area, when they observed a black Mazda 2 sedan travelling on the incorrect side of the road without its headlights on in Argyle Street.

Officers pulled over the vehicle and spoke with the driver, a 42-year-old man from the United Kingdom.

The man underwent a roadside breath test, which returned a positive result.

He was taken to Day Street Police Station, where he underwent a breath analysis test and allegedly returned a reading of 0.222.

The man was charged with drive with high-range PCA, and exempt visiting driver not carry licence.

He is due to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 16 September 2020.

The man’s licence was also suspended.
